Hank's Oyster Bar

If you live in DC and haven't tried this place yet, you should be ashamed.  If you visit from out of town, you must make the effort to swing by.  Not only does Hank's Oyster Bar serve up a pretty mean lobster bisque, it also offers some of the best oysters I've found in the city, as well as some fairly hefty fried feasts.

My husband and I recently went with a friend who was in town a few weeks ago and we were quite satisfied with our meals. I ordered the fried oyster dinner -- juicy plump crunchy oysters with old bay fries.

My husband ordered the lobster roll and I thought it was divine.  He claims that the Red Hook Lobster truck's rolls trump this one, but I am highly suspicious.  Will update once I finally have the time to wait in line for Red Hook.

My friend had the southern fried chicken with mac n cheese and buttermilk onion rings.  YUM.

Not everything at Hank's is fried, in fact the restaurant offers a fairly diverse menu featuring fresh seafood that changes daily.  We just happened to spend the entire afternoon walking from the Capitol to the Lincoln Memorial and back during the first truly cold day of the season so we were aching for a hearty meal.
